The feast of ‘Good Season’ takes place on the 25th of April in the village of Panzano near Greve in the Chianti region of Tuscany. This feast pays homage to a 16th century uprising against a local Duke and is celebrated in medieval costume and style. There is a parade along the narrow streets of the village and an enactment of the Duke’s hanging in the square. With spring in the air there is generally a feeling of hope and relief that winter has passed for which there is much rejoicing, traditionally celebrated by drinking and eating. There are consequently many stalls offering tasty delicacies and specialities from the Chianti region.
